Established in 1999, Owl has a proven history in creating best-of-breed cybersecurity products, specializing in data diode technology designed from the ground up with components specifically purposed for one-way transfer. Proudly USA owned and operated in Ridgefield, CT, Owl manufactures and supports network security products for the US intelligence, military, and government communities, critical infrastructure, and commercial enterprises.

Owl’s vision is to develop data-agnostic, scalable and secure one-way communication products for sensitive and critical networks, capable of meeting the current and evolving needs of our customers. To this end, we have partnered with some of the most respected leaders in their industries to deliver the world’s most advanced data diode cybersecurity solutions. Our mission is to help protect sensitive networks around the world from cyber threats and provide valuable information to authorized users and applications on demand.

Originally designed to meet the needs of the US Defense, Intelligence, and Government agencies with Cross Domain Solutions – securely transferring data one-way from one security level domain to another – data diodes have since evolved to support Industrial-Commercial, Public & Private Services, and Energy & Utilities verticals within our Network Security Solutions – hardware-enforced network segmentation and one-way data transfer. As part of our CDS line, Owl offers a range of validated and accredited products, including UCDSMO Baseline-listed solutions.

Mike Timan

Mike joined Owl in the fall of 2007, he brings with him over 20 years of experience working with hardware and circuit board solutions. Prior to joining Owl he worked as the Western Regional Sales Manager with RDI Inc.  He was responsible for business development, channel sales, and management of regional and national distributors.

He spent fourteen years as a Global Account Manager to a Fortune 500 Telecom client for Honeywell’s Printed Circuit Board manufacturing division. During his tenure, he was responsible for directing marketing strategies, business development plans, and revenue generation.



Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Sal Morlando

Sal brings over 25 years of industry experience to Owl , having held leadership roles in engineering, product management, and marketing.  Sal joined Owl from NewNet Communications Technologies, where he was Vice President of Product Management and Marketing. He also served as a member of NewNet’s leadership team.  His responsibilities included managing NewNet’s protocol software and messaging product lines; he managed NewNet’s marketing team and contributed to key M&A projects. Prior to NewNet, Sal held senior level positions with ADC Telecom, SS8 Networks, and Dictaphone Co.

Chief FINANCIAL Officer (CFO)

Ray Kunzmann

Ray joined the Owl team in the fall of 2016 and brings the experience of a professional career that spans over 35 years including serving as CFO for both Public and Private Equity backed international companies of various size involved in the manufacture of electronic test, motion control and industrial equipment, wholesale distribution of mobile devices and the development and implementation of archiving and records management software.  He has been involved in directing significant debt and equity financing efforts, multiple buy and sell-side M&A transactions, ERP and financial systems implementations, and building significant value-added Finance organizations.

Ray began his career in public accounting with Deloitte and is a Certified Public Accountant.

Scott Coleman

Scott joined the Owl team in 2014, bringing with him a strong technical background with 30+ years of experience working for high tech, B2B companies that ranged from startups to large multi-nationals. Starting as a software engineer, Scott’s career progressed to leadership positions in both product management and marketing.  His experience centers on real-time network solutions covering a number of industries including critical infrastructure, cybersecurity, wiretapping, healthcare, telecommunications, logistics and call centers for both the private and public sectors.

Director of Sales

Dennis Lanahan

Dennis joined Owl in the Fall of 2007, after four years as Director of Sales Operations at iRobot. During the time of rapid growth at iRobot, from 2003-2007, he was responsible for overseeing Sales Operations and Customer Service for the Home Robots Division. His responsibilities included global supply-chain operations, customer fulfillment and North American consumer help-desk service and support.

He started his career at Seagate Technology in Scotts Valley, CA and has held Sales and Sales Management positions in various technology companies selling computers, computer peripherals and internet services.

Director of Product Development

Steve Staubly

Steve is a Systems Engineer with over 20 years’ experience in product development with an emphasis on hardware, firmware and device drivers for board and system level products. At Owl Steve has overseen the design and manufacture of key products including the Owl 2500 V6 card and multiple versions of the Integrated Solution platform for both the government and utilities markets. Steve began his career in the telephony industry developing technology for digital dictation and voice mail systems.

Director of Technical Services

Andy Holmes

Andy joined Owl in the spring of 2004 as a Linux Developer. Since then, he has been involved in nearly every aspect of product preparation and implementation, eventually becoming responsible for overseeing the testing and installation of every Owl product. In addition to directing the Technical Services department, Andy’s responsibilities currently include product integration, testing, and installation, as well as advanced technical support.

Andy started his career at MCI in 1988 and worked in the telecom industry as a Programmer/Engineer for 16 years before joining Owl.

Director of Human Resources

Kathleen Gallagher

Kathleen joined Owl as their Human Resource Generalist in 2010.  She has over 15 years’ experience working in various aspects of Human Resources and is a certified Senior HR Professional (SHRM-SCP).  Her previous corporate experience includes Training and Development, Recruiting, and Buyer/Planner for Calvin Klein Fragrance/Unilever. She is passionate about corporate and personal wellbeing, strives to keep the work environment healthy and fun, and teaches yoga and meditation in the workplace. Kathleen holds her Bachelor Degree in Psychology from Manhattanville College and is certified in Positive Psychology and Yoga.
